Red Caboose Winery was officially permitted on October 8, 2005. Since then we have fermented 2005, 2006, and 2007 wines. We have now completed phase one of the winery and have started construction on the second phase, which is the cellar. This cellar will function as barrel storage for aging wine and as a dining facility for banquets. In our banquet area we will be able to accomodate up to forty people inside and 50 people outside on the adjacent patio.
Red Caboose winery is Green. Our design meets LEED green building criteria and meets or exceeds the USGBC standards. We are one of the few wineries in the country that is designed to those standards. By using geothermal cooling and chilling, collecting rainwater for irrigation, and producing our own electricity, we qualify as a sustainable building. Not only does it make good design sense, but it helps save the environmental impacts while saving energy costs. The new cellar, now under construction, is partially subterranean which provides more energy efficiencies, geothermal cooling, and cost savings.
Our winery and vineyards are located on the G Lazy M Ranch in beautiful Bosque County, south of Fort Worth and Dallas. Come visit Red Caboose Winery in 2008 and enjoy our 2005 and 2006 vintage wines.
We planted vineyards in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and will soon be planting our 2008. Red Caboose vineyards will total 9.5 acres after the 2008 planting. Our first wine production began in the summer of 2006.
